Halloween

Halloween is definitely one of my favorite holidays. What better way to celebrate the month than hanging this hip plastic skeleton on the front door! October is such a great month!!

stolen

today i came out to my car and saw an orange envelope on the ground....i thought-hmm...i wonder if i got a ticket for something and it fell of my car? So i picked it up and opened the envelope and surely enough.. a ticket for me....for....my car not having any registration! ...WHAT?! then i recalled how bens registration sticker recently got stolen off his car...i walked to the back of my car and this is what i saw:

punks! now i have to go to the drivers place to get a new one tomorrow....so annoying!! i guess because i kept sticking them one on top of the other it wasn't that hard to take them off. but seriously....just pay the stupid registration fee...

Things that make me happy today:

Sex and the City: The Movie on DVD and in my possesion

My new friend Mommy Nonnie. Yep..found her at Hobby Lobby and colored her all myself. She was bland and boring until my markers and I brought her to life. I named her Mommy Nonnie bc if you recall back in May we went to New Mexico and I found this postcard with a little Indian boy dancing and his name was Little Nonnie. I like to believe that Mommy Nonnie is his mother....just in a different form....but wait..no, they are both made of wood...the postcard was originally wood and Mommy Nonnie is some type of cheap wood...and the postcard was cheap-oh, I guess they are more alike than I first realized!

Tomorrow we are going to the zoo...I think I might take Mommy Nonnie along for the ride.....she sure doe loves animals...

oh and Ben...he is just so awesome... i just have so much fun with him...all...the...time.... and he let me buy Mommy Nonnie. I mean seriously, what more could I want?;)

oh...another thing that makes me happy. I have decided to make handstamped sterling silver necklaces. i can't really show you anything and you probably have no idea what i am talking about...BUT they will soon be in production (by me) and way cool...so stay tuned...

strip mall psychiatrist

Yesterday I went to a new psychiatrist…it was a weird visit. It was out in Naperville-so a bit of a drive from wheaton-but I thought-ok, no big deal. I turn in to the parking lot and much to my surprise I realize its in a strip mall.....a ghetto strip mall..a strip mall psychatrist. There was a marshal arts place, pawn shop, insurance office and the psychiatrist office.

The name of their place was in these red letters with gold edging-looked so bad.....a bit like this. for a restaurant-fine, but not for an office!

I was a few minutes early so I sat in my car contemplating the weirdness of this place and finally went inside. The front desk definitely needed some updating or even a fresh coat of paint. I was thinking-oh geez, what in the world am I doing here?! (Ohh..back up…I had to call my insurance company to get referred to a new doctor-they referred me to this one-im not so sure why) anyways….so it smelled in there too. All of the psychiatrists had very long, foreign names so even that was a bit weird. I sit down in the starkly decorated waiting room and wait..for like 20 minutes. Finally the dr. calls me in to her non-decorated office. It was just a weird appointment. She kept telling me if I had any side effects of feelings of sadness/depression from my medicine to get in touch. DUH! I have been on this medicine since college-I know what its like and what it does and whatever-I was annoyed. After that I left..left the strip mall psychiatrist. As I drove away I vowed to never go back-it was too weird. I felt like it was a front for some undercover, who knows what, operation. And then I thought-only me…only I would end up at some whacko place like this…

but, on the flip side I made it home from there in almost the same time I make it home from wheaton every day. i left 15 minutes later AND was about 10 miles farther out! what is that about?! weird....but im not complaining. maybe i just had the urge to get as far away as possible so I drove faster...who knows..

mushroom

my mom found a mushroom and so i was trying to identify it with my World Treasury of Mushrooms in Color book for her. It was my grandpas book and I always loved looking through it as a kid. As I was looking through, my eyes fell upon this horror:

Phallus impudicus
Volva white or yellowish. Soft whitish stem, about 4 inches tall, pitted with holes. White receptacle at top of stem, pockmarked surface, filled with a slimy greenish substance. Repulsive smell. Common in woods, in the fall. Poisonous.

wow..what a name & description...i am...speechless....yet totally laughing inside...
