Project # 2

Today I tackled another house project. The laundry area was awful...non-finished drywall...dust and grossness and not putting to good use the shelves. All of that changed today.  Here are the before photos:

The random shelf and grossness in one of the corners...

The shelves loaded with all sorts of random junk. We normally don't keep alcohol or dishes in our laundry room....but the pantry is still on my list of things to organize..
The wall by the window...notice the unfinished drywall....

The wall behind the washer/dryer and wash tub....grosss...

Terribly painted door....

Luckily when I went to Home Depot the other day I made a quick stop by the mis-tinted paint shelf. I found a gallon of Behr paint and primer-which was ideal because I didn't have to prime AND paint and the gallon was only...5 bucks....can't beat it once again...

so onward. I vacuumed, cleaned, painted, contact papered and vacuumed some more.  It looks 10 million times better and actually makes me want to do laundry....

So it might not look that different....but I painted the wall to the left..and obviously took this photo before I finished painting....but I did put contact paper on the shelves and decided to store the random paint cans there...

And here are the shelves where I can now store all my random extra kitchen things that I have no room for in the kitchen....panini maker, george foreman grill, ice cream maker..you get the point...

The wall by the window......

The wall behind the washer/dryer...

and the ugly door.....I'm sure this door would look super nice if it was stripped and stained...but its in the basement and I am not dealing with that...paint works for now...

so there you have it....project #2.....the laundry area...

I also put up some wall stickers that my parents gave me for xmas (thanks mom and dad) in the kitchen and they add a fun look:

So....Happy New Years everyone!! Hopefully you all have exciting plans! We are currently on the couch...we being, ben, oliver, and I...watching movies.....as much as i always want to do something fun and crazy for new years...i am just not a partier.....i love being home...on the couch....so HAPPY NEW YEARS!!

project.

since I have all week off or work I have decided it was high time to tackle some various household projects.

Today: Painting the kitchen.

So our kitchen is the basement..they call it an Italian kitchen-I call it the worst idea ever. .Its an english basement-so it doesn't feel overly basement-like-but still not the ideal situation. And the kitchen is more of an eye sore than anything-we are hoping to move it upstairs someday soon-but in the meantime we still need to make food. SO...I figured it was time for the hideous wood paneling to go!  Of course it is also time for the awful cupboards to go..but  I'll hopefully be dealing with those soon..

I also emptied out the pantry to paint and prime the walls in there too...just to give it a fresh look...

Step 1: Primer
Step 2:  Painting. The color was a random $5.00 mistint I found at Home Depot a few months ago-I figured-why buy a 20 buck can of paint when I have one right here at home.... so these are the worst photos...but you get the idea...even though its still an ugly kitchen....it is a little less ugly and the 5 buck can of paint sure made a difference.

the pantry is a little bit brighter and cleaner looking....

Oliver was my little inspector....during one of his random inspections he got a little too close to the paint ....whoops
