Little Walking Girl

Walking has finally "clicked" with Sophia and she is walking all over. Still at bit wobbly at times but if she falls she gets right back up!

and sometimes she gets so excited when she starts walking that she can't stay upright:
And how could I leave this video out. This is how we spend some of our evenings-"driving" around the yard:

Sophia visits Garfield Park Conservatory

Sorry I seem to be only posting once a week.....just not much happening around here lately EXCEPT that Sophia turns 1 in 2 weeks...I can't even believe it!

This afternoon the weather was beautiful again. After church we wanted to go somewhere outside and settled on the Garfield Park Conservatory. We hopped in the car and took the quick drive over there and explored for a few hours. Sadly enough a hailstorm recently damaged a bunch of the greenhouse windows so not all the rooms were open....but just enough to still enjoy a nice afternoon:)

Terrarium Time

I've been wanting to make a terrarium FOREVER....this weekend Nikki and I finally made some. We went to a hobby store in Berwyn on Saturday to pick up some little people-like the kind you use for train sets.. They had so many to choose from but we finally settled on the Active People set. Today we gathered moss from around my house...surprisingly enough we had more than enough..and we added some sand, sticks and our little people. It turned out SO cool and I now have the desire to make more! I just need to find a cheap place to buy the little people!:)

These are not the best pictures...it was a bit hard to capture the cuteness of this thing:)

Sophia does Chicago

The weather this afternoon was so wonderful that we decided to hope on the el and head downtown for a few hours. We went to Crown Fountain, the Bean, and just walked around Millennium Park. Sophia had a blast and we had fun just being together.

We finally took off her clothing so she could splash away....she.loves.water.

First Car

At a garage sale today I bought Sophia her first car. I read somewhere once that this is the best selling car-ever- in the US. Ha. She can't reach the ground yet but she loves when we push her around in it--so much so that she cried when it was time to get out.   For 3 bucks I couldn't pass it up....

Thank you Ben!

so chalk one up for another new thing I am obsessed with:

Yep..a tablet...the G-Slate to be exact. Let me give a disclaimer: I am huge Apple fan and want an IPad like nothing else. Yes, I own a Blackberry Torch but only because I like the keyboard and BBM...but I think I will be purchasing the IPhone as my next purchase because this new Blackberry is not living up to my Blackberry standards--sad.

So Ben got this tablet back before he left for Tanglewood and yes, I was a bit jealous BUT I also got a new macbook...so I figured-oh well...I don't need one. He decided this week he wanted a different tablet that has a pen and asked if I wanted this one. YES PLEASE! Why would I say no? I have been wanting an e-reader so I can get read the e-books from the library and this does all that and more! It even has a 3D video camera which-in all reality is pretty useless unless you have 3D glasses sitting around-but still fun. So this is my public thank you to my husband who loves electronic devices just as much as me--Thank you Ben--you made my life a little happier!

Little Walker

Today I bought some little Stride Rite Shoes for Sophia at a consignment store. Would you even believe I paid 6 bucks for them?! I am not a "pay 6 bucks for something used" type of person BUT considering these are normally $20/30 bucks I figured $6 was a pretty good deal. Sophia was a big fan of her shoes and loved walking in them even more than barefoot.

steps!

How could I forget to mention this yesterday! Sophia took her first steps on Saturday. She has been cruising the furniture all over the house and standing up all by herself. BUT she finally took steps to Ben and I ....oh boy....nothing like making our life 10 times busier now:)

She also took her first el ride. Yep...we hopped on the el to meet up with Ben in Chicago for a reception. She seems to be a fan of public transportation!

48 weeks & 11 months

The best angle we could get this weekend. Sophia has a new favorite toy. I call him Remote. Yep... that is HER remote. She kept grabbing ours so we gave her an old one we had. Believe or not Remote went shopping with us today. Someone even told Nikki they thought Sophia had picked up a remote from somewhere in the store...Nikki told them it was Sophias. They gave her an odd look. Hey-if it keeps her quiet and happy...so be it.

Since she doesn't like laying down anymore we decided to do a sitting up photo. Note Remote appearing in the photo too....he goes everywhere with her these days.  Well...except for when she is pushing her baby. She LOVES to push this stroller all over the house. I put some heavy books in the bottom of it so it wouldn't tip over.

We also spent time cleaning out the closet this weekend. I pulled a dress out of my closet on Friday that had something on it...I thought it was dust. It was mold.. yes, mold. SO SICK. I guess I had too many clothes in the corner and the insulation isn't great and moisture snuck in...causing mold to form on the wall. Ick.  So I bought mold remover, painted over it afterwards with mildew resistant paint, and bought something to absorb moisture. I also cleaned out my clothing collection and made room for more air flow in there. So gross.

I also snagged this little guy from the trash up the alley:

Note..this is a picture I stole from the internet...but he looks just like this..faded and everything. For free I figure he will make a perfect little sandbox for Sophia someday. Nikki helped me carry  him down the alley...such a great sister:)
