Thanksgiving 2012

Phew....what a busy holiday-I wish I still had one more day-or week for that matter:)  We joined my parents for the Thanksgiving Holiday and then went down to visit with Ben's family neat St. Louis. His grandpa passed away while we were down there visiting so we were glad that we got to spend some time with him. We also got to visit with my grandma a bit and she enjoyed seeing Sophia as well.

treat.

I recently found out about a great new online card site by Shutterfly. It's called: treat.  You can create and personalize a greeting card and they send it out for you. They even have a mobile app for creating a quick card while you are on the go!  No worries about stopping by the store to pick up a card--just add a picture, add some words and boom-you've got a card.

Today and tomorrow you can go to their site and create your own FREE card using this code: TREATBLOGR. Maybe someone in your life needs a little Thanksgiving cheer? Why not send them a treat. card!

Light Parade

We decided to go downtown tonight for the lighting of Michigan Ave. We ate some dinner in Water Tower Place and then headed out to enjoy the fun! It was pretty packed with people but we took turns holding Sophia (and our arms about fell off) and she got a pretty good view. It's kind of fun to start off the Holidays with a big holiday parade. Sophia loved the Mickey and Minnie floats and I loved the giant Rudolph. It was like a dream come true to see a giant floating Rudolph- ha. It took us awhile to get back home because of the el being so crazy busy with the masses of people- but I think it was all worth it :)

My View

This has been my view on the drive to and from work and I have loved every minute of it.....well except that its stick shift and sometimes it's a bit annoying in traffic. Sadly enough its back to my little civic next week.......I guess this was the one perk of Ben being out of town:)

I finally took some pictures off my camera after a few weeks. Since getting my iPhone I don't bust my poor SLR out enough and it gets backlogged with photos.

I made space in Sophia's closet so she can play and she loves to have Ben play in/around there with her.

Just the 2 of us

This week it's just Sophia and I. Ben flew out to NYC for a Steinway class and won't be back until Friday. I must say- I am slightly jealous. I love Sophia but to have a week away- Yeah, I wouldn't mind. Ha.

I've already found 2 new activities to keep our busy toddler occupied. We brought the slide inside and she loves sliding into her little ball pit. I also bought some felt to make a Christmas tree that she can "decorate" for Christmas. I'm going to cut out little shapes and ornaments for her to stick on the tree. In the meantime I had some extra felt so I hung it up on he wall with a little Velcro and 3m strips. I had a bunch of random felt characters and Sophia is having a blast sticking them on the felt. Hopefully these 2 activities can keep her a bit more busy this week...:)

Day 3

Christy here- reporting from the trenches of the flu. We are on day 3 and are finally seeing a glimmer of hope. I actually had the strength to take a shower and brush my teeth this morning and it felt...so good. This also meant that I finally changed my clothes too-gross, I know. I feel like a new person. After yesterday I didn't think I would ever feel well again- yet that's how I always feel when I'm sick- ha. But nothing was staying in my stomach, I felt like crap, and yah- life was sucking. So I went to bed early and with a painfully empty stomach. This morning when I woke up I felt a small glimmer of hope- my health is on it's way back- Thank you Lord!

I am still home today with minimal energy and I plan to watch more tv and rest up so I can return to society tomorrow. Here is my view today- pretty much the same except I'm waiting for Amazon Prime to start up. I've exhausted all my semi-enjoyable cable options and its time to move on. Yesterday I rented What To Expect When Your Expecting and Dark Shadows. 2 drastically different, but still both good, movies. I love Tim Burton and I love Johnny Depp- so how could I not like Dark Shadows? And since I now have a kid- What To Expect was pretty funny too.

Ok- here's to getting better and staying better... Hopefully

Flu Shot

So this is a funny story. I had planned to get my flu shot the last few times I went to the Dr. but I have had a cold or sinus infection each time. This last Saturday the dr and I discussed it and then forgot. And the funny part about this....I have the flu now. Like major flu. All the delightful symptoms and miserableness that come along with this delightful sickness. So yah, it's not really funny yet is because this is ridiculous and annoying. And here is my view at 8 am this morning. Watching Flu Bird Horror on SyFy. They have the worst yet funniest movies on here. Ugggg I hate being sick.

Uggg

Seriously... Ugg is about all I feel like saying today. I love weekends and love getting things done around the house and relaxing. Not this Saturday. This Saturday Sophia, Oliver, and I are sitting on the big chair watching movies. Earlier this week I thought I had a UTI. By yesterday I thought I didn't. This morning I decided that, yes, I most definitely had l one. I could hardly walk or function when i woke up. Thankfully I already had a Dr appt lined up this morning to get some referrals and one they saw my pee sample- I got antibiotics ASAP. Ben is away all afternoon and eve so I'm trying to keep Sophia occupied-with the tv. So far it's working and here's hoping it keeps working because I am not in the best shape. I didn't realize how sick severe UTIs can make you feel. All I can say is thank goodness there are antibiotics in the world or I would want to keel over and die. Here is the current view of us. Oliver waiting for Sophia to drop food, Sophia watching tv, and me simply trying to not feel like crap. Happy Saturday to us!

Halloween!

Halloween is one of my all time favorite holidays BUT we kind of pooped out this year with it. I knew Sophia wouldn't be happy wearing any type of costume so I got her some cat ears and a tail. She went trick or treating with daycare this afternoon and guess what?....wouldn't wear her cat tail or ears....sigh. When we came home we thought she might like to help hand out candy to people but guess what?... she didn't like it one bit. So we put a bowl of candy on the porch and stopped by the Doggie day care to sign Oliver up for a stay over the Thanksgiving holiday. A bit of a blah Halloween if you ask me. But I figure Sophia doesn't know the difference this year and we still get to eat the few pieces of candy she got:)  Here is a picture from a few weeks ago....how the cat ears would've looked if she had worn them today. You can just pretend it was Halloween when this photo was taken......
