Christmas

It was a good Christmas...lots of great gifts...good time with family..and here are the pictures to prove it. Oh, I should mention...all of these photos are with my iPhone because....this is a bit of a story... hang in there. See...Nikki and I are in the process of setting up a new blog....yep, we bought a domain name and everything, it's going to be a sister blog about crafts, wedding stuff -(since Nikki got engaged over Christmas-YEAH!!),  thrifting, etc and I decided I wanted a new camera to get better pictures for the blog and just for stuff in general. I have had my Nikon SLR for about 6 years and I was ready to get something new. I had money set aside and decided to buy the Nikon D3200 last Friday. I bought it off Amazon and they guaranteed it to be here by Christmas Eve.  I gave Nikki my old SLR so she can have it for a new camera and I figured...I'll have my new one by Christmas. GUESS WHAT? I have been back and forth with Amazon since Christmas Eve....it never showed up. I complained...they gave me a $60.00 credit...10% of the price..and told me it should show up Thursday. Today is Thursday and guess what? NO CAMERA!? I can't even tell you how aggravated i am with this! I know mistakes happen and things get messed up....but don't guarantee delivery by a certain time and then not be able to stand by it AND then not even deliver it a week later. SERIOUSLY! So I wrote them again tonight...they wrote back..said they would send a free replacement or refund my money. I told them....I want the camera! And I also might've mentioned how a $60.00 credit for not getting it on Christmas Eve might be fine but then 2 days later and it still doesn't arrive...they need to do something....we'll see what happens. All this to say....I only had my iPhone to take photos--which is fine--but 7 mpx compared to 24 mpx? No comparison. Ok...moving on from my rant....here was Christmas:

I decided to bake cookies with Sophia on Christmas Eve...she only cut out 2 and was on her way to bigger and better things...at least I got pictures:

NEMO! Nemo was a theme with Christmas this year.....she loves Nemo:

Loving her new Tag Junior books....

Her favorite gift was this little scooter. I wasn't sure how well she would do with it and I found one at Salvation Army for 5 bucks a month ago. I figured for 5 bucks if she couldn't use it...no big deal..but she LOVES it and looks so cute zipping around the house on it:

Tinsel

Well....the tree went down tonight- and all of the needles went with it. We had to get the shop vac out to get them all up. Now we have more room in the living room and a mini tinsel tree I've had for like 10 years. I knew there was a reason I kept it in the attic. I'm sure we look like the grinch house on our block...tree already on the curb. But if other people were growing pine cones they would probably do the same.

Really?

Last night Nikki came over and we opened some presents- she is spending christmas with the boy. Afterwards I noticed something weird on our tree. This tree has been losing needles from the start. 34 buck tree=probably not the best quality- but who cares. Well now I care because the weird things I noticed on our tree are...baby pine cones. Really? They look gross and fall off and frankly, I'm ready for this tree to be gone. It might even be gone before Christmas- poor tree. Then we will be the House without a Christmas Tree... On Christmas no less.

Thanksgiving 2012

Phew....what a busy holiday-I wish I still had one more day-or week for that matter:)  We joined my parents for the Thanksgiving Holiday and then went down to visit with Ben's family neat St. Louis. His grandpa passed away while we were down there visiting so we were glad that we got to spend some time with him. We also got to visit with my grandma a bit and she enjoyed seeing Sophia as well.

Ben got Sophia  a drum when he was in NYC and she loves to march with it:

Halloween!

Halloween is one of my all time favorite holidays BUT we kind of pooped out this year with it. I knew Sophia wouldn't be happy wearing any type of costume so I got her some cat ears and a tail. She went trick or treating with daycare this afternoon and guess what?....wouldn't wear her cat tail or ears....sigh. When we came home we thought she might like to help hand out candy to people but guess what?... she didn't like it one bit. So we put a bowl of candy on the porch and stopped by the Doggie day care to sign Oliver up for a stay over the Thanksgiving holiday. A bit of a blah Halloween if you ask me. But I figure Sophia doesn't know the difference this year and we still get to eat the few pieces of candy she got:)  Here is a picture from a few weeks ago....how the cat ears would've looked if she had worn them today. You can just pretend it was Halloween when this photo was taken......

Beach Day

We decided to see swimming season out with one last fun swim in Lake Michigan. We drove to Indiana Dunes-which is only about an hour away-for the morning and had a blast (why have we not been there before!). Sophia was a bit iffy about all the sand and water at first but she quickly warmed up. She loved being in the waves with Ben and actually, the water felt really good. We left about  noon so she could nap, stopped at the outlets on the way home, and hung around the house the rest of the night.

On the way to the dunes Sophia was "reading" her book in the back seat:

Easter Dress

This post was going to feature a cute girl in her cute Easter dress but guess what? It didn't happen. No egg hunts, no Easter baskets, no Easter dress...Yeah.....Sophia had a high fever all weekend and STILL has one this morning...so I am off work to take care of her. Poor thing. She didn't go to church...slept most of the day yesterday...was generally miserable and sad. She was still asleep this morning when we got up...she usually hears us and wakes right up.

The weather was amazing this weekend so at least I got to enjoy some of it outside. Sophia enjoyed a bit on Saturday until the fever hit her. We mulched, weeded, planted a few more plants and just had fun. Sophia helped me "dig" and mulch...well she thought she helped me..she basically just took her little shovel and moved things around-but it was so cute.

We played with Photo Booth this morning while we watched Sesame Street and cuddled  on the couch. She loves taking photos of herself-ha. But what kid doesn't? HA
