Sophia loves to watch the movie Happy Feet 2 and I usually let her watch it while I prepare dinner. She also loves to sing along.....

Thoughts..

Nikki and I grew up in a runner’s house hold. We have stood at endless finish lines over the years-5ks, 10ks, half marathons, marathons-waiting to cheer as our Dad crossed the finish line. At big races like Chicago we (along with our Mom) bonded with others cheering and waiting on their loved ones-reminiscing about how crazy they are for running 26.2 miles and realizing how lazy we are for just standing there and cheering. There is a special feeling around a race like that-a special atmosphere that makes you realize you are a part of something really big (at least in the running world) and it's awesome. I love the cheering of the crowds, the strength of the runners, trying to find that perfect spot to catch a glimpse of your runner and the comrade all around you-it’s like nothing else I have ever experienced. I never went to watch my Dad run the Boston but heard the stories and saw the pictures when my family returned. Boston is a big deal-a huge deal for a marathoner. Anyone can run pretty much any other marathon but you have to qualify-at a previous marathon-for Boston-meaning you aren’t just out there running your very first marathon-you have trained and worked hard.  You have pushed yourself to the very limits (or so I imagine while I run my wimpy 2 mile limit on the treadmill). As I see all the Boston Marathon reports I feel it a bit deeper inside-as I’m sure do many others. When you have someone in your life who is a marathon runner and you know what it’s like to stand at the end of the finish line anxiously awaiting the sight of them crossing-it hits you just a little bit different.

Yard Work

This last weekend was such great weather...sunny, warm...lovely. On Monday Sophia and I went to buy mulch and cedar edging for the yard. Note: Shopping is a million times easier when your toddler can entertain herself with the iPad. In fact, it's quite delightful!

We put some mulch down on Monday night and I planned to finish later in the week BUT it won't stop raining and being miserable around here! I'm so ready for warm and dry weather...ugggg

I made the mistake of giving Sophia a watering can with water in it....which she loved....but she kept wanting to refill it-like every 2 minutes. Needless to say the mulching we were able to do took...FOREVER since I had to keep running to the hose.

Ben and I have been doing the Insanity workout for the last week and to be honest-I hate it. BUT I am keeping up with it because I need to shape up and I try to remind myself of this as I am dying during the workout.  I read about how much it sucked before doing it and those people weren't lying! I don't see how I can't get some results out of this with the amount of sweat I keep producing  and the pain my muscles are in----means it's working-right? Let's hope. With the workouts being about 40 minutes I feel like I don't have much time to do much else---hence the quietness on this blog....yet again....welcome to my life :)

Easter Weekend

I almost forgot to put up some pictures from our Easter Weekend. The weather was warmer, the sun was out, and we all had a great weekend.

 I had the day off Friday so after Sophia napped and Ben worked we headed to the zoo-along with everyone else who had the day off. We have been so used to the zoo being empty all winter that it was a bit weird with all the people around-but we still had fun.

We had to take baby with us to the zoo. Sophia wanted to show her the animals:

After nap time we colored some eggs...which Sophia loved

 

 

On Saturday we headed up to the Kohl Children's Museum in Glenview. Sophia had a blast-especially in the water area

After the museum we had a picnic in the park and spent some time at the playground before going home for nap time

I hid some eggs in the back yard while she was napping and after nap time she had an Easter egg hunt-which she loved. I think she especially loved eating the fruit snacks in some of the eggs.

 

 After dinner we spent some time at the local tot lot to wear her out even more.

 

Sunday we went to church and then out to eat at Sweet Tomatoes....yummmy....Sophia was a big fan of the chocolate mousse. 

And wow...that was a busy weekend-but so much fun. I'm so glad the weather is SLOWLY starting to warm up. It's so much easier with a 2 year old when you have to option to play outside.
