Maine Day 1

I'm going to start this series of posts with Day 1 so that you can read them down in order. I didn't take my computer on the trip so I'm going to put all the pics up today. There are so many that I figure I'll divide them into days for more exciting viewing.

We left last  Sunday morning for our big trip to Maine. The edge of Maine is only 4 hours from my house-which I find so crazy! We arrived around Noon and had lunch at a rest area in New Hampshire. It was a gross, ugly rest area but we needed to eat so we ignored the smell and grossness.

Funny enough we drove for about 15 minutes after lunch and stopped at the Maine rest area. It was beautiful and clean-a total opposite from where we had lunch. Smokey the bear was even there. Lesson learned-avoid New Hampshire rest areas

We made our way to Cape Neddick and thankfully found a parking space for Nubble Lighthouse. It was so pretty....almost looked fake. PS-Sophia wasn't really into taking photos this trip. When she did she loved to do silly poses....crazy kid

We traveled on to Kennebunkport next. Talk about giant houses-there were so many along the coast. We got out an explored a big of the ocean side and Sophia enjoyed throwing rocks in the water and puddles

In the eve we checked out Freeport and the LL Bean store. We couldn't pass up a photo op by the giant boot.

Our hotel was in Waldoboro and we stayed there for 2 nights. There were quite a few little cabins and ours was shared with another but we never even noticed they were on the other side of the wall. We even had a little screened in porch on the back

The little cottage didn't have the most updated decor but that's what made it all the more fun & unique!

Up next: Day 2

Maine Day 2

We woke up nice and early so we could get to Pemaquid Point Lighthouse before it got too busy and crowded. It was beautiful! My Dad and I both slipped on some rocks while walking out but thankfully didn't get hurt. And good thing this happened at start of the trip because we realized how dangerous the rocks by the water were and steered clear!

Our next stop was lunch at the cottage and Nikki had her first Maine lobster roll...

We headed out to Marshall Point Lighthouse after lunch and it was just as beautiful as the first 2 lighthouses

Next on the lightouse stop was Owl's Head. Another view that didn't disappoint. Sophia got a little stuffed puffin and then photo bombed one of my photos with it.

Day 2 concluded with a Subway sandwich by a harbor in a small town

and a weird pose by Sophia
