Last week Ben had a Piano Technicians Guild conference in Denver and we decided to tag along. Sophia didn't recall her last flight-which was about 2 years ago-so flying was super exciting for her this time-she loved it. She even got chocolate cake from the stewardess who took a liking to her.
We flew first to NM to visit with Ben's parents for a few days. We enjoyed a few sights around Los Alamos and Sophia had a great time feeding ducks at the pond.
She also loved the Nature Center in town and had a blast with the little animals
We went to the Bandelier Cliff Dwellings and she had fun until we climbed a ladder to one of the dwellings and it totally freaked her out.
A quick picture (minus a sleeping Penny) before we left NM...
After a few days in NM Ben's parents drove us up to Denver for the conference and we spent the rest of the week there. The highlight of our trip was getting together with my cousin and her girls. We hadn't seen them in 2 years and it was so great. We went to Tinytown where they had a little railroad and all sorts of tiny houses the girls could walk in or look in the windows. We had a blast at Tinytown and with our cousins!
We also went to Dinosaur Ridge but just took pictures by the dinos
The next day I packed the girls in the car and we drove the Trail Ridge Road in the Rocky Mountain National Park. The girls pretty much stayed in the car while I pulled over at the pullouts and took pictures. As we were leaving it started to cloud over and rain so we were lucky that we had blue and clear skies!
Proof we made it to the top...
We drove about 4 more miles to the the Continental Divide before heading back down
The last 2 days we spent going to thrift stores-because hello, how could I not- and swimming in the hotel pool. Both things Sophia and I love doing and poor Penny was just along for the ride. She spent her afternoons at the pool lounging in the shade:
It was a great trip but also nice to be home after spending a week all in the same hotel room. We came back to super hot weather and we got to enjoy our neighbor's pool. We go over there a few times a week and it's wonderful!
Penny naps while we swim..
