ouch

this afternoon ben and i needed to run into walgreens and as i was getting out of the car and i shut the door....on my finger! the first finger on my left hand. it was stuck..in the door and i thought..holy crap...what am I going to do-as I tried to pull it out! i said, very calmly, "Ben, Ben, unlock the door...my finger is stuck" and he did and i pulled my finger out and blood started flowing...ick...and then the pain started radiating and ouch...it hurt..bad...so we went into walgreens with a kleenex wrapped around it while it bled..got what we needed and also got a little finger splint. we then came home and put ice on it..it hurts and is WAY swollen.....i was in quite a bit of pain....and still am.....my poor finger.....here are some pics i took on my computer to gross you out....you can see the difference between my right and left fingers....ick

mini cupcake

Tonight I went into the kitchen and caught a glimpse of yellow out of the corner of my eye. as i looked closer I noticed this little yellow cupcake spending some time in my mini cupcake pan.   I took a few shots of it before it was gobbled up....

so my 3rd crochet creation has been crafted....they are getting better each time!:)

an apple a day....

today i had 2 tripping incidents. i was going down the back stairs of our apartment and "clunk, clunk, clunk"....slid down about 6 stairs on my butt....now my right thigh hurts. THEN when i got to work i was walking up the stairs in my building and definitely tripped up 2 steps and almost fell flat on my face. i figured it would be a pretty bad day from there on out-but it wasn't. thankfully it turned out fine and I still was able to run my nightly 3 miles despite the butt pain from my fall:)


yesterday i decided to crochet a little apple. i have finally got the directions straight in my head and it finally makes sense to me..so tonight I finished the little apple, well he kinda looks like he could be a tomato too...but you get the point. even though i seem to understand the directions-it obviously didn't mean I was able to stitch them correctly...which is evident in these photos. BUT I am still just beginning and I have hope that it will get better! I also should of used the little plastic eyes I have but instead I just stitched them on..... so maybe next time....

today we braved the cold and went shopping in champaign....we went to the thrift store and find quite the selection of quality goods....including this 1969 version of "A Baby Is Born-The Story of How Life Begins" and let me just give you a little quote: "This is how it happens. The father and the mother lie close together, facing each other....." -I'll let you figure out the rest;)

today as i was sitting and working on my new found crochet hobby i spotted this little zombie across the room-definitely up to no good.!! Im not one to care much about zombies walking around here.... especially cute little pink crocheted zombies...but this one caught my eye as it so slowly lurked around my plant and watched me. I figured I better go ahead and catch it before it performed any more shenanigans. so i got out a jar and BAM! smacked it right over that zombie....Its mine now... almost like it walked straight out of my Creepy Cute Crochet pattern book and into my world. Prisoner # 8716:

ok ok, you caught me....i crocheted this little monster myself. This is technically my first crochet project-since the wascloths I crocheted over christmas break in college once..I've come a long way!:) ha. anyways..i am actually quite proud of myself...and I know I can only get better from here! Monster world watch out-I will be crocheting many of you!! I sewed the little head on with black thread-my mistake-it shows up...but it also makes my little zombie friend even creepier. The hair was an after thought so I kinda just stuffed it in for right now....but it works and I finally did it! Finally made something!! #8716 will always hold a special place in my heart as my first creepy cute crochet monster-or crochet project for that matter!

Valentines Day with Christy & Ben

since ben has an awful cold and we didn't really plan anything for valentines day-we cooked a nice meal for ourselves and cleared off the table to eat on:)  Swordfish steaks, mashed potatoes, and aspargus. We have some cheesecake for desert but were too stuffed to partake of it. We also decided to dine by candlelight....now ben is playing video games and i am crocheting (i mean..attempting to).... a perfect valentines day for us both;)

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!

nothing much going on around here today...in fact we don't seem to have any valentines day plans at the moment-which is fine with me. i am just glad friday, the 13th is over. i dislike friday the 13ths and yesterday i disliked....many annoying things happened and then we decided to order carry out and i got pasta, brought it home, started to eat it and noticed there was meat sauce on it! AHHHH the place is only a few blocks away and rather than driving..because there was a lot of friday night traffic...i just walked up there and got the correct thing, walked back and stayed in the rest of the eve. ben has a really bad cold and so he was feeling pretty crappy too.....needless to day-the day is over and its on to bigger and better things today....maybe working on my crochet, watching a dvd, just relaxing.....ahhhhh....i like that...

productive

tonight i came home, ate the nastiest fish tacos ever-(they were from trader joes...frozen section...i thought they would be good-they made me want to barf), did a load of laundry, ran 3 miles at the Y and created a little stuffed bird I decided to name Chirp. I sewed him by hand because #1-I didn't feel like taking the time to thread up my sewing machine and #2-well...I was just too lazy to get the sewing machine out. All that to say-this is not my best creation-and he looks a bit funny in the picture-but it was easy and fun and i plan to make more!

btw...the bird was supposed to look more like this.....someday it will...practice makes perfect:)

defeated

this morning i was defeated by the automatic car wash. i don't like auto car washes but thought i could handle it-I couldn't. my car didnt line up correctly so it wasnt working-well, it kinda did but didnt...then my wheel was like going nowhere cause it was too close to the edge of the metal and then it kinda went forward half way in and wasn't moving so it had soap and water on it but nothing else-i was stuck. next i freaked out a bit and didn't know what the heck to do-do I drive forward? do I back up? AHHH!! so i finally backed up and there was a car behind me-GREAT! I got out, told the lady I couldn't get my car on the track and was going to back up-which I did...with some soap residue on my car. I am still greatly embarrassed inside. bad way to start a monday morning and seriously...I am 29-you would think i would be able to handle an automatic car wash-nope, guess not. i am taking my car to get washed at the regular do-it-yourself car wash over lunch.....

in happier news....i just got tickets for ben, nikki, and i to see flight of the conchords live in april!..... a least something went right with my day!:)
