Fairy Door

I'm sitting here on my couch at 1 in the afternoon watching 16 and Pregnant (yes, I know-guilty pleasure I guess) and feeling under the weather. Yep, I left work early because I'm feeling pretty crappy--cold or sickness-who knows--but it's nice to be lying on the couch, with fresh air coming in the windows, resting. Ohh and watching high quality tv.

I found this little door at the thrift store and am planning to make it into a little fairy door. I'm thinking of painting it-maybe the door red-we'll see-but I have always wanted a little fairy door. I think the idea of fairies is fun and whimsical and to have my own personal fairy door--awesome.

Ben got an iphone a few days ago and holy cow I'm jealous. I'm so sick of this darn blackberry. My contract is up in 2 months--so a new iphone is in sight--just not close enough sight.

And that's pretty much all that's going on in my sick little part of the world.

I found this gem over my lunch break at my favorite store (yes, Salvation Army)

He even has a box of cards that go with him. For 3 bucks? I couldn't resist! I remember my neighbors having this and thinking it was so cool. And look how 80's it is! AMAZING

night away

Saturday morning my favorite outlet--Land of Nod--had an awesome rug sale. Nikki and Ben went out with me and we scored some deals. A new 5 x 8 brown rug for the living room-only 30 bucks- an extra 5x8 in case the current one gets messed up--another 30 bucks--and my favorite-a 4x6 rug for Sophia--only 20 bucks. It just makes her room so much cuter-and the price wasn't hard to beat-especially since this rug normally goes for $229:

Could these pigtails be ANY cuter...yep, I actually snuck these in her hair and she didn't notice--at least for about 20 minutes-ha:

Last night Ben and I spent the night downtown at the Blackstone....thank you priceline for a cheap and decent hotel room. We ate out, went shopping, grabbed our all.time.favorite cupcakes from Sprinkles and slept without any interruptions from dog or child. I even busted out my Lunesta to help me sleep all the better and it was wonderful. Pillow top mattress, king bed, feather duvet--glorious. After breakfast we hopped back on the train and headed home,  but not before taking a picture of the bathroom wallpaper-pretty intense.

We spent the afternoon at home enjoying the amazing weather. Sophia was wearing such a stinking cute dress I couldn't get enough of her!  She loves to be outside running around, looking at birds, playing with toys....this age is so much fun.

Doctor

Sophia had her 18 month appt. today and I took a picture of her standing next to the play thing on the wall. I realized I had other pictures from past appointments I took of her as well. I stuck them in a little collage--I know she has grown but it's fun to see how she is now taller then the toy

Sophia is growing by leaps and bounds-in the 75th percentile for height and weight--and apparently now the size of a 2 year old (hence why 24 mos and 2t clothes fit so well I guess). She is excelling developmentally as well. All the questions they asked me (pretend play, talking, eating with silverware, stacking blocks, climbing on things, holding the crayon correctly and drawing, finding things when we ask her too, etc) she can do them all! They were quite impressed-as was I -that she was so smart. I attribute some of this to daycare because she sees the older kids doing so much. Sometimes I feel bad working while she goes to daycare, but the growth and changes I see in her and her social abilities are amazing. As much as I hated having to send her to daycare when I first started working, I think it might be one of the best things we did for her.

On a side note--she HATES the doctor. Like the minute he walks in she cries and will not let go of me. She also hates the nurse. When we put her on the scale to be weighed she grabbed my shirt and pretty much showed the hallway my boobs-ha. Yah...she is like a little monkey. The minute the nurse or doctor walks out of the room she is off my lap and playing with that toy in the pictures. She had to get one more vaccination and some routine blood tests today ( to check for lead and her hemoglobin levels) and you would've thought they were doing terrible things to her. It took 3 people to hold her down for the blood work. OHH the stories we will have to tell her in the future:)

18 months

I finally got the 18 month picture right before bed tonight. As is the norm-she wasn't a fan:

Here were the other attempts. She gets a pacifier for bed time, hence the plug in the mouth...

I pulled the pacifier out in an attempt to get a better photo.....panic resulted....and back in her mouth the pacifier went....oh the horror..

bathtub

I have 2 words for you tonight--poop and tub--just think about those for a bit and look forward to what I'm going to tell you. Tonight we took a nice long walk in this amazing weather-hoping it would wear Sophia out- and took a nice warm bath when we returned. Towards the end of the bath there was a noise and some bubbles. Thought it was just some gas. Next thing we knew...poop made an appearance...in the tub. Thank goodness for Ben because I would've puked right then and there. Seriously---baby poop makes me gag--there are many diapers I make Ben change because I can't handle it. Poop in the tub? That's a whole new level--and Ben conquered it-as well as a bunch of bleach. I'm going to leave you with an after bath photo from a happier bath earlier this week. Actually, Sohpia wasn't too happy after this bath but at least it was done with clean water:

Of course, pooping in the tub wasn't the only thing we did this weekend. Nikki and I drove down to Fisher on Saturday morning to spend some time with the fam. My Grandma was in the hospital earlier this week and was transferred to a nursing home so we spent some time visiting with her.

(btw..I would love to put pigtails and cute bows in Sophias hair BUT she hates them-so instead she sports this fine mullet)

We hit up the park afterwards and Sophia LOVED going down the slide on my lap---she squealed and laughed so loud-it was so cute!

We also took a walk in the awesome weather and just spent some great time hanging out.

Sophia is 18 months old today-unbelievable. I need to take her 18 month photo -but you know how things go with her---it's pretty much on her terms...we'll try tomorrow:)
