Read more...More Sophia moments....sliding after dinner yesterday, laughing hysterically at who knows what, and jumping--which isn't quite jumping....but in her world it is!:
It's no secret that I love the weekly emails we get around here for free stuff...Mom Mail. Last week I got a "new" picnic table for Sophia because her other -also from Mom Mail-had a big crack in it ( which was, possibly, my fault for sitting on it a few times.. Well to be fair there was a little crack starting to form before I sat on it...moving on) and today I got her a new slide...for free. She has a slide but the little steps were too close together for her to easily go up the stairs on her own and we always had to help her. Enter Mom Mail and the exact slide I have been looking for-for free. Side note-the picnic table is totally 90's colors but hey- it does the job. New slide and new table pictured below:
I should've taken this photo on the 11th and I totally forgot! So here we are a few weeks later and this is Sophia at 20 months. She was moving so I was unable to get a good shot. I decided to use 2 shots for this month since neither of them are that great. Without further ado...a very busy Sophia at 20 months:
My Mom took this photo of Sophia and I last week on Mother's Day.....not too bad...except I look super tired and Sophia has the beginnings of her lovely Hand, Foot, Mouth Disease that we dealt with last week..sounds bad I know...but it wasn't...anyways....Mother's Day picture of me and my daughter...
Sophia was playing with some books yesterday and "reading" each one. She has also, somewhat, mastered the art of blowing bubbles (sorry for the bad quality..Ben messaged me this video from his phone)........
Nikki and I went home this weekend to spend Mother's Day with the family. We had such a great time-as always. Monical's Pizza, the park with some of our favorite people, Fisher garage sales, and Sophia got to see her favorite person...Pa (my dad). I got all sorts of great garage sale deals-clothes and shoes for Sophia and a new table for our basement kitchen. Between the garage sales and other fun we brought my Grandma to the park and Tammy and Sienna met up with us. Sophia loved the slides and rocks.
Doing dishes with Pa....
Yes, it is true...I admit I have bought Sophia too many toys over the last 2 years. I couldn't help it! I always saw so many great things at thrift stores for so cheap! I finally had a revelation yesterday (after reading something online) that yes, in fact, she doesn't need nearly as many toys and book as I make myself think she does. Soo....last night after she went to bed I went on a crazy cleaning and organizing spree. The bottom shelf of both our bookcases were all full of her board books...I cleared them out and put some away and kept those pictured..this way we could use the other shelf to house her Little People house and farm. I also made myself only keep toys that will fit in the bins nicely. I mean..not overflowing full of stuff..not stuff on the floor--well except for blocks--and not as many dolls. So I put a few dolls in her room...as well as all her play food..which is in her room too. I took 2 boxes worth of stuff to the attic and am giving some to her daycare too. I also dropped some stuff off at Goodwill--which is probably where it originally came from-ha. Anyways... I figure I can switch the books out at some point and some of the toys but for now....it looks much better and hopefully won't be so overstimulating for her when she is playing.
Here is a quick pic I took this morning of the new and improved play spaces. BTW..on the shelves 2nd from the bottom are a bunch of children's books too...but books for a bit older...and she doesn't really do much with them...so I left them as is.
I must admit, I am in love with my iPhone. I have wanted this phone and all it's apps for a long time and it's not disappointing. All the photo and video apps-I'm in heaven. I made a little .gif or Sophia going down the slide yesterday....so.fun!
Ben ran into Bed Bath and Beyond to exchange his Sodastream canister while Sophia and I waited in the car. She kept asking "Where Daddy?" and "hmmmm"- and I caught some on video. She was in the back in her car seat so I had to get the video in the mirror. She cracks me up.
