We were giving Oliver a bath Sunday night- as we always do- and noticed something on his ear. I thought he had something stuck in his hair but it wouldn't come out. Ben mentioned that maybe it was a tick and I thought- nah- I don't think they look like that. So I googled it and yep- they do look like that- I won't show you a picture because ticks are disgusting when sucking blood. So Ben took it off with tweezers and I decided to do some research. Deer tick. Uggg- our yard seems to be a perfect tick haven and it ticks me off. We have a little stone wall around the yard and behind it lots of trees and brush and leaves. And where do ticks live? In stone walls, bushes, and leaves, etc. Basically the borders of our yard. And up here in the Northeast ticks seem to be all over- no escaping. I've read all sorts of stuff and am prepared to do tick checks and bug spray routines and try anything I can to keep those nasty things away. They don't usually go in the yard, so I've read, but along the perimeter-so we just need to steer clear. I realized I can't let the ticks scare me from being outside but rather just be more vigilant. No more jumping in leaf piles for us around these parts!
Thankfully the weather is warming up and today was nice. We got backyard and park time in while enjoying the sun- both of which I hope wear Sophia out because she was up at 6 am this morning and I was not quite ready to wake up.
I realized I never posted the rest of the pictures from my parents visit- just last week they were here with us- and we had such a great time!
We visited the Pez Visitor Center...
You could fill a bucket of Pez for 5 bucks. And all those Pez have already been consumed... By me.. Yummy. I don't like the regular flavor Pez but the sour ones-they were good...
We also spent some time at some beaches in CT. It was cold but hey- there aren't beaches in the Midwest so we had to enjoy them when we could.
Of course, this week the weather has been warm and sunny compared to last week- it was cold out there on the beach!
I'll leave you with this picture. I opened up a jar of peanut butter and it looked like this on top. Awesome:
