a few days in

We've been home about 3.5 days and I can't believe Penny will be a week old tomorrow. Crazy to think last week at this time I still had a baby in me and was wondering what she would look like and how big/small she might be. Now I know and we're pretty happy with what we got! :) I snapped some pics while she napped today- I can't get enough of her sweetness.

Discharge Day

Today is the day we get to go home! I got the ok this morning and now we're waiting for the pediatrician to check Penny and we are out of here...with a quick stop at the pharmacy for Percocet first;) I've sent Penny to the nursery the last few nights so I could get some sleep and Ben could go home to sleep in a much better bed than the pull out couch here. I realized this was the first, and probably last, time I've been all by myself all night-It was nice!  Penny has still been a quiet, calm, little girl who only seems to cry when she's hungry. It's made for a nice few days at the hospital-we'll see what happens once we get her home today!

Penny's Picture Blog: babygac2.tumblr.com

Penny continues to be a great, sleepy little newborn so we've been enjoying the quiet times of just holding and cuddling her! I'm in quite a bit of pain but up and walking and trying to stay up on the meds! Sophia and Nikki stopped by after lunch to visit a bit and Sophia enjoyed being able to feed Penny by herself....at least for a few minutes.

She's here!

BTW....Penny has her own picture blog now too: babygac2.tumblr.com

After a morning of waiting around-because of an emergency c-section that happened right at the time I was supposed to go in- we finally made it in to surgery and Penelope (Penny) Esmée was born at 11:49 am! 6 lbs 15 oz and 20 inches long.  Sophia was a good size kid at 8 lbs 8 oz so I was suprised Penny was so tiny. It was a bit surreal to have a c section but nice to not have to deal with labor! I'm recovering well so far and haven't had any bad side effects- thank goodness!  They are getting me up to walk about midnight and I'm not really looking forward to that. Penny is as cute as ever and we are all trying to figure out where her nose came from- she looks quite a bit like Sophia- except the nose!
